Switch update brings video capture and pre-purchasing

Nintendo's latest Switch update (version 4.0.0) has ushered in some interesting features including video capture, data transfer, and pre-purchasing, but there's a catch.

As it stands, video capture is only compatible with Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Splatoon 2

So, while players can record, trim, and post gameplay clips to social media straight from the console, right now the feature is only supported by four first-party games.

There's no telling when (if ever) Nintendo will enable video capture across the board, but devs outside the Nintendo bubble will no doubt be hoping it happens sooner rather than later.

Beyond that, the update also brings a pre-purchase option to the Nintendo eShop, meaning Switch owners can purchase and pre-load supported games to their system ahead of time.  Come from Soccer 13 pools and matches

The addition of a data transfer feature is also welcome news, as players will now be able to carry their user profiles and save data from one system to another.
